MY STORY

I grew up in China and came to America during my freshmen year in High school. Traveling between China and the US is a common thing for my family. Because I travel a lot, seeing different landscapes and cityscapes fascinate me. Painting on location and also taking beautiful pictures while traveling and painting from those references is  the main focus of my work.

Painting landscapes, flora, and foliage. I spent most of my time painting from references I have taken while traveling, or painting en plein air.

 

In the past year, I have also been experimenting with adding abstract elements into my painting. The contrast between abstraction and realism in a single painting usually brings the viewer a very different concept and adds variety and interest to the subject.

​

I am currently painting a series of sunrises and sunsets. There are going to be various scenes that I have found from around the world, from cities in China, Canada, America or Italy etc. I found that studying the incredibly varied atmospheric effects of sunrises and sunsets to be challenging and mysterious. It also motivates me to travel and to catch more scenes and record them in my way of painting.
